I'm so excited to have the opportunity to photograph Aimee and Garretts wedding this coming April. We got to know each other a little after their engagement shoot yesterday and they are such a fun couple. Not to mention that they are a great looking couple and have such chemistry. I also was able to meet their little boy who was sooo cute. I couldn't resist getting a couple photos of him too! We got so many great photos of them it was hard to pick my favorites to share with you but here you go:

I've done quite a few shoots lately and with the holidays and having company over and everything else going on in life I just haven't had the time to get them all blogged to share with everyone. However I did do a family shoot the other day and since it had some photos that were Christmas themed I figured I'd at least share those with you for some holiday fun! What a great family the Lewis family was. It was such a pleasure to work with them, the kids all followed directions great and had fun too! So the result was some great family photos they will cherish for years to come.

Well, I've been so busy I haven't had a chance to blog everything, I have some great senior shots I do still want to share with everyone but that will have to wait til I'm a little more caught up. If you're looking for a family or other shoot before Christmas, I want to let everyone know I am completely booked up for November but do still have a few openings for December. I'm not taking too many however so I can make time to share the holidays with my family too so if you know you want to get it let me know ASAP!

Ok so I do have some wedding photos to share with you. This is Dalton and Emily's sneak peek! What an awesome couple with wonderful families. I had the opportunity to shoot Dalton's cousins wedding in August which he was a groomsman in, so I felt like I already knew a lot of their family so it was great to see them all again. Emily looked stunning in her dress and had such a wonderful attitude all day even when we were faced with some crazy wind for the outdoor photos. Thank you again Dalton and Emily for including me in your special day, I've really enjoyed getting to know both of you and your families!

I am so lucky to have such a great friend and assistant as Faryn and even luckier that she asked me to photograph her wedding for her. Faryn was from the little town of Mankato, KS so we traveled up there last weekend where her and Jake tied the knot at the Harmony United Methodist Church where she grew up. They had a wonderful ceremony followed by a fun reception at the community center in town where she also entertained her guests by asking me to bring up the photo booth. Brandon and Lisa's sneak peek - Hays, KS Wedding Photoography

Brandon and Lisa were married last week and had a beautiful ceremony and reception at the Fox Pavilion. I have to say that this couple is so in love I could see it in the way they looked at each other. We hit it off right away when I met them at the Hays Wedding Expo last year and had a great time with both their engagement session and now their wedding. Brandon and Lisa also choose to add a photobooth to their reception which was quite a hit! Thanks again you guys for choosing me to share in your special day. Beautiful Baby Belly! - Hays, Kansas maternity photography

This lovely couple came in a little over a week ago to get some maternity photos taken. They were so sweet and fun to work with, we were giggling a lot and having a great time. I got some beautiful photos for them as memories from her 1st pregnancy. Although she was only about 36 weeks along, I was in for a big suprise when she contacted me only two days later and said that her baby boy was here! They will be coming in this weekend so I can meet the little guy and you better bet I'll have some photos up here of him in the coming weeks too! Congrats guys!

Jonathan & Corine's wedding sneak peek - Oakley/ Colby Kansas

There is nothing like shooting a wedding with a couple who were highschool sweethearts! What a great couple Jonathan and Corine are and a beautiful vintage wedding they had. The wedding took place in Oakley, Kansas where they both grew up at St. Josephs church. After the wedding we even had a chance to go to their old high school to get a few photos of them and the bridal party together. The reception was just as beautiful and was at the City Limits convention center in Colby. It was all decorated up with tiffany blue and little crystals all over for some sparkle. The City Limits is a great reception venue, I always find the staff there to be very pleasant to work with.

I have yet another senior session to share with you all. Kevin came to me last week for his senior portraits and was able to take advantage of my August senior special and will be receiving an additional 12 wallets!

However since it's a new month I suppose we should have a new senior portrait booking special. This month if you book your senior session with me you will receive an 8X8 photo book which will include all of your proofs in it! Photo session must be booked by the end of October 2011. My September schedule is almost full and October will probably fill up just as quickly so you'll want to contact me soon if you want to schedule.

Sweet little girls! - Hays, Kansas Newborn Photographer

I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to photograph two different newborn baby girls in the last couple weeks. I can tell you that getting them to pose like some of these photos isn't as easy as it may look. I do make sure that I take my time and help the parents and the baby to relax and sometimes that doesn't happen right away. However once we can get the baby nice and sleepy I can get some sweet shots of them.

First we have baby Gemma, I've known her family for a couple years and have had the opportunity to photograph her big sister before (what a cutie). I got this great one of her holding her new baby sister, how sweet!

Then after she left with daddy we were able to get Gemma off to a nice rest and captured a few of her too.

And some more baby sweetness for you with baby Raegan. We got off to a little rough start with her and she just wanted to fuss some but with a little patience and love we finally got her to sleep and boy did she do a great job! Her are some from her session.

It's just amazing how time flys when you have children. It seems sometimes like they grow right before your eyes! I once again had the pleasure of photographing the Rupp family and their baby boy Easton. This is one of the nicest couples you will ever meet. I've know them for almost two years now meeting them to shoot their engagement photos, their wedding then their newest addition. It's so wonderful to be able to share in the growing of the family by documenting it with photos. This little guy was so full of smiles and cute looks I had a hard time narrowing down their choices, here are a couple to share and show you what a cutie he is!

Alison & Jesse Nuttle - Sneak Peek - Hays Kansas Wedding Photography

I had such a great time photographing Alison and Jesse's wedding this past weekend. Alison was just so sweet and so laid back it made for a really wonderful evening. I loved the way they looked at each other with that special smile or glance and they did it all evening long. Alison mentioned a few times how "Excited" she was and it shows with her beautiful smile in so many wonderful photos. Kolin - LaCrosse Senior Class of 2012

As I mentioned before senior portrait season is in full swing so I have another one to share with you. Kolin was so great to work with! I know a lot of guys don't enjoy having their photos taken all that much (I'm sure some do it just for their parents :-), but Kolin did a great job and we had a good time shooting both indoors and all around town. Although it was bright and sunny, for once I think it was actually under 100 degrees. Kolin also brought his family with him and we got a couple photos of everyone while we were out, such a nice family too.

Well senior portrait season is in full swing, even though it's been hot it's a great time to get your senior portraits done while the trees are still green! I've had quite a full schedule lately so I've slacked a little on the blogging so I'm gonna blog about two different senior shoots today.

First I better mention what the August special is going to be! I've had a few seniors take advantage of the last special and will be getting a mini accordian album with their photos. For the month of August I will be offering an additional 12 wallets for any senior who schedules their appointment before the end of September! Hurry up though cause space is limited and has been filling up very quickly!

Ok back to some recent photos. First we have beautiful Raegan, she came all the way from Colorado to have me shoot her senior portraits. It was another hot day but we sure got some nice shots of her. Thank you Raegan for choosing me to be your photographer!

Next I was blessed to have the opportunity to photograph Catlin from Lacrosse, KS. She had some really great outfits that she brought with her, just look at that prom dress, gorgeous!

Class of 2012 Senior - Otis Bison - Hays, Kansas Senior Portrait Photographer

Yep, it's that time to start portraits for the class of 2012 seniors! This is a great time of year to get your portraits scheduled while the grass and trees are green and before your crazy senior schedule sets in this fall. I had the opportunity to work with Miss MacKenzie the other day from Otis-Bison and she was so sweet! We worked until the sun almost set going all over town for some great shots. I'll share some with you below but first I want to mention a new senior special.

If you book your senior portrait session in the month of July you will receive a free Super Mini accordian album. These are a new product I am now offering (see photo below) They are similar to the other accordian albums however they hold way more photos than before (up to 42). This is a great way to have a copy of all your senior portrait proofs on hand to show off to your friends and family. They are also available for purchase for those of you who have already had your portraits taken or who book after the special runs out for $49.

Patrick and Morgan are friends of mine and attend the same church. I was so excited when they asked me to share in their special day by not only photographing it but asking my daughter to be one of their flower girls. We started the day at Morgans house with the girls all getting their hair and makeup done then went to the church to get dressed and start photos. The ceremony was a wonderful expression of their faith followed by a fun reception at the Fox where they chose to rent my photobooth to add to the excitement of the evening. I'm so excited to share some photos with everyone of this little sweetheart. Ayvah was just 11 days old when her mom and dad brought her to me the other day. She was bright eyed and awake when she got to the studio so we weren't sure what to expect from her. But she amazed me and was such a good girl. She gave us some great awake photos and then at the end we got her into a deep sleep and I was finally able to get some great poses that I've been trying to do for a long time. Anyways here they are, hope you enjoy.

Erika's senior portraits - Senior class of 2012 May special

Well I posted a couple weeks ago about a special I would be having each month for the class of 2012 seniors but I've been so busy I haven't had a chance to post it up! The senior portrait specials will be different each month and will usually be better in the earlier booking months and the months that are not as busy for senior portraits so here is the May Special:

Book your class of 2012 senior portrait session in May (session must take place by end of the following month) and receive a free accordian album shown below. This is a new product I have available and retails for $27. It is small enough to carry with you allowing you to show off your favorite 12 photos from your session.

And I can't forget to show you Erika's senior portraits! We shot her photo session a couple weeks ago on a horribly windy day. Luckily we had the opportunity to go out to the airport and get some shots inside a hanger with one of the planes. Erika's parents are in the avaition industry so we wanted to pay tribute to that. I also wanted to thank Salon Ten O'seven for allowing us to grab a few shots inside their shop as well. I do have a studio for indoor shots but with it being so windy that day for our outdoor locations we were looking for refuge inside anywhere we could. James and Renee Wedding Sneak Peek - Wedding Photography, Hays, KS

James and Renee were married last weekend at the Immaculate Heart of Mary church in Hays Kansas. This church was just recently built and this is the first wedding I've photographed in the new building. It was just beautiful, lots of natural light makes it a photographers dream! Their ceremony was very nice and their reception was a blast for all. They even rented my photo booth for their reception and it was a hit. We had a line at the booth almost all night, the guests just couldn't get enough of it. Baby Logan - Hays Kansas Newborn Photography

I love shooting baby bellies, I think there is something so special about capturing that beautiful glow that women have when they are pregnant. Here are a couple beautiful women I had the opportunity to work with this last week... First off is Alaina who was due to have her baby today so you will be seeing some pictures of sweet Logan coming up in the next couple weeks too. Yes we got her pictures done just in time!

Then yesterday I photographed the beautiful Hali, she is due in May with a little girl. Besides my girls I have only photographed little baby boys for almost a year now so I'm excited to get another little girlee to photograph soon. Here are my favorites from Hali's session.

I promised you some newborn photos a few days ago and then did another newborn shoot in the mean time so I decided just to blog them together because I got a kick out of their names. The first baby boy is Easton, and the 2nd is Weston! How cute that I photographed them one after the other.

I was really excited to hear from Derek and Shelly that they had a little baby boy (Easton) as I just photographed their wedding last February. It's so fun to see a couple so in love get married and then be able to follow them in photographs as their little family starts to grow. Here are a few from their shoot:

Next up we had Weston. He was such a great baby, fussing just a bit at first but once his mom and dad got him to sleep he slept like a champ allowing me to finally use the baby sling (like a stork) prop I've been wanting to try out. When I shoot newborns they are so unpredictible that I make sure I get the nice safe shots first to make sure the parents have some good photos of their little guy/girl, but if they are up for it and sleepy enough then after the "safe" poses we try to get a little more creative as we did here. Thank you Audrey and Aaron for allowing me to photograph this little sweetie!

Well after many hours of work I've finally given my website a facelift. The links to my pages now appear to the left and the galleries of photos are on each page along with the pricing for that category. I'm hoping this will make navigating my website a bit quicker and that the new look is pleasing to everyone's eyes!

Were coming to the end of the 2011 senior portrait year but we managed to squeeze in one more before this group of seniors graduates leading to a brand new year of 2012 seniors. Bridal Showcase, Hays Kansas Wedding Photography

The bridal showcase this past weekend at the mall in Hays had a great turn out. I had a great time meeting many brides and grooms to be. It was so busy at my booth I didn't really have much of a chance to get out and visit too many other booths and take any photos as I really wanted to. I did get to meet a few other photographers there which is always nice.

As I mentioned before I am now offering Photo Booth Rentals in Hays Kansas and surrounding areas. We debuted the photo booth at the Expo and got a great response with a lot of people trying it out and having a blast. I think this will be a great addition to my wedding coverage as the couples who book their wedding with me will receive a discounted rate on the photo booth rental. The photo booth is available for other events too like birthday parties, Christmas Parties or any other special event. Per photo pricing is also available if you would like me to set it up for guests to pay as they enter, please contact me for details. I will be at the Fox this Friday night for the Valentines banquet and will be offering couple photos during the evening so I hope to have a few of those to share next week.

Sweet Newborn baby boy - Hays, Kansas newborn baby photography

I love it when I have the opportunity to photograph a baby and then see them grow! This is the 2nd baby for this family and I've been able to watch and photograph their first son as he gets bigger and now they have a new little bundle of joy too! Because of the holidays we weren't able to get his photos done when he was just born so he was about a month old for these (meaning it's a lot harder to get cute sleepy poses done) but I still think he did so good. I had the opportunity to work with a wonderful couple yesterday and photograph their wedding. It was a small intimate wedding at her parents home so we did most of the formal portraits in my studio, not to mention it was freezing outside! It's not that often that I get to shoot the bride and groom in my studio so I really enjoyed it. Here is a sneak peak of a few from the studio, I'll post some more after I get them all edited. By popular demand I now have a wedding package which includes an engagement session, full day of wedding coverage and both sessions on a CD. This package is offered at a more affordable cost for most because I don't have the time and cost wrapped up in creating a wedding album (however those are a great way to archive your wedding day photos). Not to mention these days a lot of people are into scrapbooking themselves and would rather create their own album of the day and that's OK, it's YOUR DAY! Another new service I'm offering this year will be a Wedding Photo Booth rental. Well actually it could be rented for any type of special event like a birthday party or any other celebration. I'm still working on getting it up and running and getting together a price list but here are some photos from a trial run we had at a wedding I shot this past year. Doesn't it look like fun!!! Well with my recent purchase of a new home/moving, taking care of a baby and toddler and the holidays combined I haven't had much time for blogging lately, but I thought I better get one more in before the year is over. 2010 was a great year for me as I was kept very busy with Weddings, Seniors, Babies etc.. and I just want to thank all of my clients for making it so. I've met some wonderful people this year! Oh and my new years resolution - Try to blog each photoshoot! Ok well if I can do it more than just once or twice a month I'll be happy, lol Here are a couple photos that I've taken recently but haven't had a chance to blog yet.

So it's been almost a month since I've posted anything. After the last wedding that I blogged I had to finish editing it along with shooting a bunch more great senior sessions and some engagement sessions, not to mention I'm moving and have a new baby girl ... boy, there just isn't hardly a spare moment to blog everything.

Anyways as I said I'm moving and will be unplugged from the internet for a few days so if you send me an e-mail and don't get a response right away please be patient and I'll respond as soon as I'm all connected again.

Well I can't blog without showing you some photos from what I've been up to so here you go:

First of all here are a few from an engagement session I did for my assistant. We had the most awesome day for photos and even caught a rainbow in a few shots!

Here are a couple of Devin from Ellis High. He caught a great day with the fall colors, within a few days all the leaves were off the trees so I was glad we shot his when we did.

And yet another Ellis senior, Kimberly, she is so gorgeous it was hard not to get a good photo of her.

Seniors, Seniors and more Seniors

In an effort to edit and get the photos back to this years seniors as quick as possible I have been editing every possible minute and haven't posted as much. However I know you're wanting to see some of the latest seniors so here we go! It's been such a great class and so much fun working with all of you.

First we have Amanda who came from Lacrosse to get her senior portraits done. What a beautiful girl! We had a great time, especially with all her "stuff" in her shop-a-holic photo...

Here are a few of Rayna, another beauty who had a love for animals! She brought 4 different dogs with her to photograph, we had fun trying to get different shots with them too. Here is the biggest one she brought and a few other of my favorite photos of her.

I'm still super busy editing but I thought I'd share a few more from a couple of my recent sessions, this first senior is actually the sister of my assistant Faryn, her name is Chelsi and came from Mankato to have her senior portraits done. I do have to say thanks to my assistant Faryn for all the great work she does helping me out with lighting etc. when we're going all over town taking pictures. By having someone assist me I can better acheive the lighting outdoors that you see in these photographs, she is invaluable!

Anyways, here is her sister Chelsi, a true beauty!

Cora is a senior at Hays High who also loves photography so our goal was to get some photos that were original and not like everyone elses. With her beauty and location ideas we sure ended up with a great set. Thanks again Cora, you were fun to work with!

This little guy is just turning 1yr old. I first photographed his mother when she was pregnant with him, and then his newborn photos... Can't believe how quickly they grow... What a cutie!

Seniors, Engagements, Babies - Wow have I been busy

I just finished editing a group of photos so I thought I'd just blog them all at once, I've been doing a little bit of everything lately so there is a little variety for your viewing. I still have some more seniors to edit and shoot so you'll be seeing a lot more of them in the near future...

First of all here we have Whitney, she is a senior at Hays High. She was up for anything including doing dance jumps for me which turned out great! She was so fun to work with and did great with her poses. Here are some of my favorites from the day.

Next I had a set of twin seniors, Angela and Ashley, we did their session together so we were able to get a few photos of both of them too. I even got to have fun with a few of the photos as Angela brought her Anime' costume so I edited them with a cartoon type look. Here are a few from their session.

To mix it up a little here are few from a recent engagement session I shot for Melissa and Kenny, what a sweet couple!

And of course we can't leave out the senior guys! Here are some photos of Allen From Hays High. Look at that awesome truck his dad and him restored, just loved that photo.

Here's another young man, Nick, who came from out of town for his senior portraits, even though he didn't like dressing up I thought he sported that shirt and tie pretty well.

For now I'll share one more with you, here is a 6 month old little boy who has the cutest chubby cheeks! He was such a happy baby. I've had the opportunity to photograph him and his family a few times and it's so fun to watch them grow!

This little man was so cute. Took him a while to warm up to me, but once he did he was a real ham. I chased him all over the park while he played, some photos were quite a blur with as much as he was running but we got some really cute ones too.

I've had some of the most beautiful little ones in to photograph lately. It's so great to meet other parents with babies close to the age of mine. I'm telling you it is definately an art to photograph babies and I think you must be a parent before you can be a baby photographer. Patience is a must, that's for sure. Here are two sweeties I recently had the opportunity to photograph. This first one is a 6 mo old little girl who I've now had the chance to photograph twice. It's so fun to be able to watch them grow and capture it in photographs for their parents.

Here is a 2 month old little boy I photographed the other day. He did so awesome for being only 2 months old and look at those beautiful eyes!

Well I had my baby girl on May 11th and finally I'm feeling good enough to get some decent shots of her. She is a really good baby, I'm so blessed. I'm still recovering from a c-section but feeling pretty good hope to be back with my regular appointments by the end of June. Thank you everyone for your understanding if I don't respond to e-mails as quickly as normal while I'm learning to juggle a newborn and my 2yr old. I've been really busy lately trying to get everyone scheduled for shoots and the sessions edited before I have my baby so I haven't been taking the time to blog about each shoot. However there have been some great shots that I'd love to share so now that I'm about caught up I thought I'd post some of my favorites from each session here.

This little girl has the most beautiful blue eyes! Her and her family came in for a shoot and I just couldn't get enough of her.

Next I had a couple of young girls that were dancers, they did some really great moves/ poses for me! I don't think I've ever got so many great photos in one short session as I did with this one. Here are a couple of my favorites.

This next family is actually a family I'm shooting a wedding for in a few months, we did some family shots with their engagement shoot. Look at the sweet curls on their little girl!

I'm so glad it's finally getting green so we can get outside for some photos, like that last one of the little girl smelling the flower and the ones of this family who also have a little dancer. They were so great to work with, we really got a variety of shots for them.

I've also done a few maternity shoots lately for some ladies who are due in May along with me. I'm looking forward to meeting their little ones when they arrive.

And last but not least as I promised, here is one of myself ready to pop. I'm due on May 11th so I wont be taking on any more appointments for shoots til the Middle to end of June to give me time to re-coop. Then it will be time to start up with senior portraits again for the class of 2011! If you would like to set up an appointment for June or after, it will probably be best to e-mail me giving me a few days to get back with you since I'm not sure how long my hospital stay will be. I haven't posted anything in a while, I've been pretty busy with some last minute portrait sessions before Christmas. I want to thank everyone who helped me make my first year in business so wonderful. Thank you for all of your kind comments and for referring your friends to me.

Well it's starting to get colder and colder out, but we managed to get some great outdoor shots anyways. It was a cloudy day with rain looming, but the lighting was great for some natural light outdoor shots. Rachael did such a great job and her photos turned out beautiful because of it. I haven't posted in a while so I thought I'd give a little update on things. I've been working on creating a logo for my company and I finally have it completed, that's it as the top of the page. I have also done a little redesign on my website, but I'm sure you noticed that, that has consumed a bit of time. At the end of March, I attended a photography lighting class in Kansas City to pick up some new lighting techniques. It was a wonderful class and I was able to meet quite a few great photographers while I was there. Now I'm preparing for the upcoming senior portrait season, along with wedding season. I have two weddings scheduled in the next few months and hope to have the opportunity to shoot a few others this year too. Here are some of my favorite pictures I took while in Kansas City... I had the pleasure of photographing a good friend of mine last week just a few weeks before she is due to have her 3rd child. She was a great model and the pictures turned out just beautiful. Senior Twins

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to photograph twin senior young men. They were so fun to work with! We had a great time and were very lucky to have such a nice mild weather day in the middle of winter. So many people were out and about that day it was hard not to get onlookers in the background! Since the yearbook deadline has now passed for this year, this should be my last senior shoot for a few months. I'm looking forward to working with the class of 2010 later this year. I had the opportunity to photograph this wonderful family during the holidays while they were all in town visiting. They were really great to work with and we were able to get them all some individual family portraits along with all of them together. This was by far the largest group I have shot so far, but lucky for me they were very patient and we were able to get them all with their eyes open at once! lol Here are some from their session to share.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, I know we did. The year is coming to an end and I wanted to thank everyone for helping me get my Photography business off to a great start. I do have some changes coming for the new year. You will now be able to order your prints directly from your proofing gallery online. I'm hoping this will make it easier for everyone. Once you choose your photos from your gallery, you will add them to your cart and then check out and pay directly online. I will then receive a confirmation of your order and will make sure that each photo you choose has been edited for color, cropping and blemishes etc., before your photos are printed. Any feedback on the new system will be appreciated. The print pricing page will soon be changing as all prints will be sold individually with discounts based on the amount you spend, instead of packages.

I had the pleasure of photographing a huge family with 6 kids the other day. They are friends of mine and we had a great time. Let me tell you, getting all 6 kids to smile at once is quite a task, but they were all so wonderful. We pushed it getting all the shots in before it got too dark, but I think they really showed what a fun family they are. I had the opportunity the other day to shoot my first Senior Portrait session with this nice young lady. We had a great time scouting out different locations around town and in turn have some lovely photos to show for it. We did learn however photographing on a windy day proves to be very difficult! My first Special Event

Yesterday I had the opportunity to photograph my first special event. It was a Christian Puberty Blessing for a young lady at my church. It was a beautiful ceremony where her parents blessed her as she is now entering womanhood (she just turned 13). They have a beautiful family with six children, some of which you've seen in my previous photo shoots, so it was an opportunity to practice getting some family shots also.
